Lennox Introduces Exclusive Healthy Climate(R) Air Cleaner, the Industry's Most Efficient Whole-House Filtration System
DALLAS, March 23, 2006 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Responding to the increasing consumer demand for high-performance, whole-house indoor air quality solutions, Lennox Industries has introduced the Healthy Climate(R) 16 (HC16) Media Air Cleaner. The HC16 is the first whole-house media air cleaner on the market to be rated at MERV 16, making it the most efficient in-line media air cleaner now available. MERV is an industry rating which stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value, with ratings ranging from 1 to 20 -- the higher the rating, the better the filtration, with ratings higher than 16 used primarily for specialized environments such as clean rooms, high-risk operating rooms, and areas dealing with hazardous materials. Lennox has obtained a three-year exclusivity agreement with a manufacturing partner to market the HC16.

Designed to be easily installed with a home's existing heating and cooling system, the HC16 air cleaner is the most effective solution on the market today to provide cleaner air for the entire home. The HC16 works directly with the home's central air system to remove over 95% of circulated particles (dust and pet dander) and bioaerosols (mold and dust mites) down to .3 microns, significantly outperforming even the best room air cleaners. Unlike many electronic air cleaners, the HC16 does not produce ozone, a known lung irritant. Maintenance is performed by a simple, routine filter replacement.
Recent studies by the Chelsea Group, an independent trend and market research firm, show that 95% of the U.S. general population are concerned about the quality of the air inside their homes. These same studies show the air cleaner market is expected to grow at about 10% annually through 2008.
"It is obvious an increasing number of consumers, especially those with children, are searching for the most efficient and effective way to improve the quality of the air in their home," said Bob McDonough, president and COO, LII Worldwide Heating and Cooling. "The development of industry-leading, whole-house solutions such as the HC16 shows our commitment to provide the most innovative products to meet these growing needs."
